About the treatment

Invisible Braces

You can have the smile you want, without the hassle of braces. Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment option that utilizes a series of silicone appliances to close gaps, and fix many malocclusion disorders without the struggle of brackets and wires. Our patients love the Invisalign difference with the freedom to have discreet cosmetic care faster and easier.

Our team at Orland Dental Care invites you to learn more about Invisalign and how you can have a beautiful smile.

Invisalign treatment uses a device designed to make tiny movements in your teeth by applying firm pressure. Treatment includes a series of multiple silicone retainer-like devices that are worn in succession for a brief time, approximately two weeks. Each device is designed to apply pressure to specific teeth in a specific order until the end goal is finally achieved.

INVISALIGN FACTS

When considering your options, we invite you to review the following facts.

  • Look and Function: Most of us consider the look that we want to achieve, but improving your alignment also carries many functional benefits. You may find that you are able to chew more evenly, chew a wider range of foods, and even have improved overall oral health including easing the struggle of TMJ.

  • Metal Free: Metal brackets and wires may provide a firm structure, but they can be frustrating. One of the biggest complaints from those who wear braces is being poked and cut by the metal in their mouths. Invisalign is all silicone, no sharp points or pokes. The silicone is worn entirely over the teeth, so there is nothing to catch or stab your soft tissue.

  • Custom Fit: Invisalign includes a series of aligners customized to gradually move your teeth into the ideal position that we agreed on during your consultation. Each aligner is created and designed with the end goal in mind. Your aligners should fit snugly over your teeth and though you will feel pressure, they are made to fit you.

  • Removable: Your Invisalign aligners should be worn a majority of each day, in fact they should be worn 20-22 hours a day, but they are removable. Whether you want to remove them to play sports, a musical instrument, while you eat, or just because it’s a special event, you have the freedom to remove your aligner when needed.

  • Discreet: Traditional metal braces may do wonders, but they are not known for being pretty. In fact, they carry the label of awkward teenager in their appearance. Many of our patients would like to avoid metal mouth, especially our adult patients. Invisalign is a clear acrylic appliance that is worn entirely over your teeth. They are nearly invisible and most people you encounter will never know you’re wearing them.

  • Less Office Visits: We will want to see you and check on your status during your Invisalign treatment, but there will be less office visits and no need for tightening wires. This is ideal for many of our busy patients.

  • Faster Results: Moving and straightening teeth takes time, but Invisalign averages about six months less treatment time than standard braces. This is due to the frequent changing of aligners which are all provided and therefore accessible at the beginning of treatment versus waiting to be seen and have your braces tightened at appointments.

INVISALIGN® FAQ ORLAND PARK, IL

If you find conventional braces uncomfortable, Invisalign might be an excellent option for you. Thanks to their functionality, Invisalign clear aligners are a reliable and efficient alternative to traditional braces. Our experts at Orland Dental Care advise you to switch to Invisalign aligners if conventional braces are not getting the job done.

WHAT IS INVISALIGN?

Invisalign is a highly effective orthodontic treatment that helps straighten teeth without the need for braces. This treatment restores the alignment of your teeth without subjecting you to conventional braces. It is a series of neatly customized aligners that cover your teeth and push them into correct alignment after a period of using them. Most people prefer Invisalign aligners because they are clear and can be taken on and off. This makes them less noticeable and doesn't attract unnecessary attention, as is the case with traditional braces.

Individuals looking to enhance their smile by straightening their teeth tend to think that metal braces are the only option. However, this is not the case, as Invisalign aligners are a much better alternative. They have no metal brackets or wires that could detract an individual from your smile and make you uncomfortable. This is why they are quickly becoming a popular orthodontic treatment. Thanks to Invisalign clear aligners, your teeth will be correctly aligned in half the time it would take with conventional braces. Whether you are an adult looking for the ideal treatment method or a parent exploring orthodontic treatment for your child, we highly recommend Invisalign as a discreet and effective solution.

HOW LONG DOES INVISALIGN TAKE?

Invisalign takes around one year to straighten your teeth. Invisalign technology uses clear aligner trays to gradually and gently move your teeth into the correct alignment. This is done without the inconvenience of traditional braces. Using Invisalign will help you attain straighter teeth in a simple and pain-free way. You don't have to worry about being subjected to excessive discomfort, as with traditional braces. Most users tend to complete Invisalign treatment and achieve straight smiles within 12 to 18 months. Some users could achieve a straight smile within a shorter period of time. This means that the time it takes Invisalign to work varies from patient to patient.

When using aligners, you should wear them 20 to 22 hours a day. You will get a new set of aligners every week or two. With every new aligner you get, your teeth will be adjusted slightly. Since Invisalign trays are made from very thin clear plastic, they are hard to detect. They are also very comfortable thanks to their thin size. Clear Invisalign aligners are a common option for adults and teenagers who want to straighten their teeth but don't want to go through the cumbersome and painful experience involving metal braces. It is vital to note that Invisalign can only correct mild to moderate misalignments. Those with severe misalignments should consider other realignment methods.

HOW DO YOU CLEAN YOUR INVISALIGN?

Taking good care of Invisalign is vital for its durability. The best way to clean Invisalign is by rinsing and brushing it with lukewarm water. You should also use Invisalign cleaning crystals, especially those designed to clean aligners from stains and bacteria. Here are some of the tips that can help you clean Invisalign thoroughly.

  • Soak Them in Cleaning Crystals -  It is helpful to soak your Invisalign aligners in cleaning crystals. These crystals are highly recommended because they help get rid of bacteria build-up, foul odors, and some staining on the aligners. To soak them, start by adding the cleaning crystals in the suggested amount of water, then gently place them in the aligners. Leave it soaked for about 15 minutes, as this is the time it takes the solution to work on your Invisalign. After that, remove the Invisalign aligners and then brush and rinse them. You should also replace the trays to keep them fresh.

  • Brush Them Twice Daily - Just like with natural teeth, it is beneficial to brush your aligners twice daily. The rule of thumb is to brush them every morning and evening. If you fail to brush your aligners, plaque will build up on them and start causing infections. When brushing, use toothpaste and a soft toothbrush. Brush the aligners thoroughly to get rid of any remaining bacteria.

  • Keep Invisalign in The Case - Proper storage of Invisalign is vital for its durability. If you don't keep Invisalign in a safe place, you could easily misplace them or expose them to bacteria. The best place to keep Invisalign aligners is in their case. It is easy to locate them in their case, and it prevents exposure to bacteria.

  • Clean Aligners at Night - It is vital to clean your Invisalign aligners every night when you brush and floss. Cleaning them at night helps remove food debris, particles, and bacteria. Besides, cleaning your aligners removes any stains that could distort your smile. Lack of proper cleaning could cause bad breath.

DOES INVISALIGN HURT?

Invisalign may cause temporary discomfort or tenderness. Often referred to as Invisalign "pain," this discomfort occurs when your teeth become tender or sensitive to the bite or touch. You might also experience some pressure around the affected teeth. The discomfort caused by Invisalign may affect the foods you eat for a while, like avoiding crunchy or hard foods. Other than this setback, Invisalign aligners will not affect your life by any means. The discomfort will disappear after a few days. The discomfort you experience mostly depends on the type of movement required and the end result you are looking for. In fact, slight discomfort, and tenderness are signs that Invisalign is working. Therefore, you shouldn't have to worry about its adverse effects when it is actually fixing your smile for the better.

My seven year old was nervous about going to the dentist as his last experience wasn’t very pleasant. However, from the moment I made the appointment, the staff was warm and friendly. Upon arrival, our awesome experience was continued by the greeting we received from ladies at the front desk.Once he was called back, the technician was very kind and personable. Dr. Shah came in and spoke directly to my son. I could see that he felt at ease. The doctor and the tech explained the process of cleaning and the tech let him feel that the cleaning wouldn’t hurt. He did great. I drove about 40 mins to get to this location but it was TOTALLY worth every minute and every mile. Would highly recommend this office to anyone in need of dental services.

I was a new patient there this past week and had one of the best experiences with the staff and the doctor!  From the moment I walked into the beautiful office, I was treated like royalty!  Everyone was so nice and pleasant. I came in for a cleaning and ended up needing some additional work, and the staff explained everything so I could understand and gave me every option for payment.  It was just wonderful.  Dr. Takla and the staff at Orland Dental Care really know what they are doing and helped me feel comfortable since I was very nervous.  Thank you to them for helping me get over my fears and helping me understand why my dental health is so important!!!!
