About the treatment

Cosmetic Dentures

Dentures are dental appliances used to replace missing teeth, but the difference between them and some other dental restorations is that they can be removed and placed back in the mouth by patients. Although dentures are not natural and take time for the patient to get used to them, the dental professionals at can customize a pair for you that look natural and are comfortable. This is done during a consultation with our team of experts, who will confirm the number of teeth being replaced before customizing a set of dentures for you. There are several types of dentures: partials and complete, and we can help you choose the best type for your dental needs.

HOW DO DENTURES WORK?

Complete dentures come with a flesh-colored acrylic base designed to fit the patient's gums. The base of the dentures on the upper side covers the palate or roof of the mouth, while the denture that covers the lower side has a horseshoe-like shape to allow you to move your tongue freely. When you visit our dental practice, the dentist will customize your dentures made from impressions of your mouth. A dental expert will help you choose the most suitable type of dentures for you.

HOW LONG BEFORE I GET USED TO MY DENTURES?

Like any other dental appliance that you are not used to, dentures may feel slightly uncomfortable or awkward, especially during the first few months. Performing basic oral functions such as speaking and eating might require a bit of practice. If you experience a loose or bulky feeling, you should not be concerned since this is normal as your tongue and cheek muscles learn to hold the dentures in place. After patients are fitted with dentures, they may temporarily feel as if the mouth is crowded, produce excess saliva, and experience minor soreness and irritation. Patients are advised to seek medical advice if the feeling of irritation persists more than usual.

HOW LONG DO DENTURES LAST?

Rebasing dentures involves making a new base without replacing the denture teeth. Over time, patients should visit our dental experts to have their dentures remade, relined, or rebased due to the typical wear and tear that can occur. These are vital steps in ensuring that your dentures are adjusted to accommodate changes in your facial structure which makes chewing irritating and painful for the gums. This problem can be avoided by scheduling at least an annual appointment with a dentist.

HOW LONG DO DENTURES LAST?

Since dentures are delicate and can easily break if mishandled, we can help you take proper care of them. When you come in for dentures, our team of expert dentists will provide you with the relevant information needed to help you maintain them in tiptop condition. We recommend always keeping your dentures in a denture cleanser when they are not in the mouth to prevent them from drying out. Be sure to brush your tongue, gums, and palate before inserting the dentures to get rid of plaque and stimulate tissue circulation. If your dentures accidentally break, crack, chip or loosen, you should consult the experts at to prevent further damage.Contact us today at 708-364-8900 and get more information before you get dentures.

My seven year old was nervous about going to the dentist as his last experience wasn’t very pleasant. However, from the moment I made the appointment, the staff was warm and friendly. Upon arrival, our awesome experience was continued by the greeting we received from ladies at the front desk.Once he was called back, the technician was very kind and personable. Dr. Shah came in and spoke directly to my son. I could see that he felt at ease. The doctor and the tech explained the process of cleaning and the tech let him feel that the cleaning wouldn’t hurt. He did great. I drove about 40 mins to get to this location but it was TOTALLY worth every minute and every mile. Would highly recommend this office to anyone in need of dental services.

I was a new patient there this past week and had one of the best experiences with the staff and the doctor!  From the moment I walked into the beautiful office, I was treated like royalty!  Everyone was so nice and pleasant. I came in for a cleaning and ended up needing some additional work, and the staff explained everything so I could understand and gave me every option for payment.  It was just wonderful.  Dr. Takla and the staff at Orland Dental Care really know what they are doing and helped me feel comfortable since I was very nervous.  Thank you to them for helping me get over my fears and helping me understand why my dental health is so important!!!!
